**Trade Counter Assistant**

Since 2001, we have grown as a timber merchant with extensive industry experience. Our recent expansion has doubled our premises, featuring a new, larger trade counter on a main road. We are a wide-ranging company supplying timber to the Trade and to the public.

Whilst the below guidelines are generally your day-to-day/week-to-week tasks you will be expected to contribute in other areas around the yard/office, helping to ease pressures as and when necessary. Roles & responsibilities are below:
**Customer service**

We promote the highest levels of customer service, manners cost nothing. You are expected to be hard working and show high levels of good customer service and enthusiasm towards your customer’s needs, they should be on an effortless journey in a sometimes confusing atmosphere. We expect the customer to be served until they leave the gate not just taking their money and passing them on.

**Serve Customers**

You will have to take telephone calls for the trade counter and account customers on occasions, taking enquiries and orders over the phone to process into a receipt and delivery. As well as this there may be general enquiries and messages to take.

**Job Picking**

Good customer service skills and knowledge about the products is key. You will be responsible for serving the customer from initial enquiry through to receipt of goods which will mean picking and sometimes machining goods, all training will be provided.

As well as customers orders off the street you will have prepaid/account orders that you are expected to pick/machine ready for collection or delivery, prioritising your workload to the order of delivery whilst maintain good display and packaging of the product.

**Delivery**

You will the be responsible for placing the picked jobs in one area and marking up for delivery for ease of loading which you will be actively involved in. We have delivery drivers and although a driving licence isn’t integral it certainly would put you in a good position if you were able to take a delivery out if we are short one day.

**Stock**

You will be regularly re-stocking shelves and maintain/updating displays as well as external displays/products, keep on trend. You are be expected to keep up and observe what current products/services are in high demand that we stock and don’t. You will help with stock take and the ordering process.

**Housekeeping**

As with anywhere in the yard the employees are expected to maintain all their machinery, working equipment and working areas. Your role is no different you will have designated areas in and around the shop to maintain, keep clean, clear and safe for customers. The shop is constantly moving always something to do being a customer environment, having a busy 100msq self contained warehouse, shop floor and stock room, as well as car park and yard display areas and block storage all needing to be maintained to a high standard.

**In Summary**

This is an excellent opportunity for full time position as well as gaining valuable knowledge within the trade, giving you the opportunity to gain certifications and qualifications that will be yours. However, you must be under no illusion yes this is a customer service role however in this position you will be expected to get your hands dirty so to speak, you will be inside as well as outside irrelevant of the weather come rain, shine, wind, or snow.

Wage is based on experience and what you bring to the team, with raises on capabilities and gained experience, basically the more you put into the job the more you will get out.

The successful applicant will be expected to do a trial of which some of the time will be in the yard as well as in the shop to check your grit and willingness to learn but also for you to see all roles and scenarios that you and your team members could be faced with whilst working here, which helps you respect their role also they respect you and you understand the working process and training necessary to give realistic turnaround of deliveries due to pick/machining time.

Pay: £20,000.00-£27,500.00 per year
