A unique opportunity has arisen to work within the nationally recognised Tameside and Glossop Early Attachment Service, one of the ten specialist Parent-Infant Mental Health (PIMH) services that sit within Greater Manchester’s Perinatal and Parent Infant Service’s Model.download.cfm (gmmh.nhs.uk)
We are looking for a highly skilled clinician who is passionate about working to support parents, infants and young children to develop good quality relationships right from the start.
**About the Postholder**:
**The postholder will**:
- have a professional qualification in one of the following: Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Child Psychotherapy, Health Visiting or other relevant Mental Health profession, and be a highly skilled practitioner with experience of working with complex families.
- work as a specialist practitioner within the service providing assessment and treatment for parents/carers and infants, young children and their families.
- provide consultation to Children’s Services around vulnerable families antenatal to aged 5.
- Contribute to multi-agency training provided by the service
Training and supervision will be provided as a significant part of this role and the postholder must be eager to engage in both.
Tameside and Glossop Early Attachment Service is commissioned to support the mental health and emotional wellbeing of all infants and young children, up to 5 years of age, in Tameside and Glossop. We have close links with Health Visiting, Family Nurse Partnership, Maternity, Neonatal service, Adult mental health, Perinatal mental health, Social care and the voluntary sector.
Our friendly and innovative team offers high-quality therapeutic support, assessment and treatment for families experiencing moderate to severe, complex and/ or enduring difficulties in their early relationships. We use our expertise to help the local workforce to understand and support parent-infant relationships. This may be offered through training, consultation and/or supervision to other professionals to enable a shared understanding and language.
Using the THRIVE model we have led the borough in developing integrated perinatal and parent-infant mental health services for parents and children under five.
We have received wide recognition for good practice and forward thinking from other professionals and services around the country. The Tameside model is currently being replicated across the other nine boroughs in Greater Manchester.
We are committed to supporting our staff in their development with access to CPD opportunities, a robust clinical and management supervision structure, and access to a recently developed in-house training programme covering key areas of clinical practice.
To work as a specialist practitioner in the Early Attachment Service providing therapeutic support to parents, infants, young children and families with complex, emotional, behavioural and developmental difficulties. To liaise closely with colleagues in Health Visiting, Midwifery, IAPT, Perinatal CMHT, Children’s Services, Children’s Social Care, ISCAN and Education and implement a community based therapeutic service to parents to be, infants, young children and their families with a particular focus on early intervention, and the prevention of high risk in vulnerable families with children Under 5 who have complex, emotional, behavioural and developmental difficulties. (e.g. socially excluded families). To provide assessment and treatment for parents/carers and infants, young children and their families.
The training and development aspect of the role involves acting as a specialist resource, and contributing to multi-agency training of relevant professionals across Tameside and Glossop. The post holder will be expected to offer consultation and clinical supervision to professional colleagues.
