**What is The Essex Family Support Service?**

The Essex Family Support Service (EFSS) launched in 2020, works in partnership and collaboration with voluntary and community sector organisations across Essex to deliver this service as part of the wider Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service. The service was able to support 788 people in the first year.

This service provides support to families which include school-aged children and young people aged 8-19 years. This will include families who are not already receiving support from specialist and statutory services such as Emotional Wellbeing Mental Health Service (EWMHS), Social Care and Family Solutions. (For families with children under 8 years, support will be provided by other voluntary organisations).

**The aim of this service is to support families to work towards the following outcomes**:

- Emotionally healthy, happy and resilient - supporting families to develop and retain positive relationships
- Behaviour choices that promote safety and wellbeing - including reduction in participation of risky behaviours
- Socially connected, resilient and resourceful families - supporting people to connect with peers and communities
- Healthy inter-parental/guardian and family relationships - effective communication and conflict resolution

- Build positive family relationships
- Signposting to relevant services
- Up to 10 weeks family mentoring support
- Completing referrals for families
- Attend TAF meetings (Team Around the Family)
- General advice and guidance
- Find courses and training for parents
- Can link families up with special educational needs and disability (SEND) specific organisations for extra support

**Engagement Officer** **- **Essex Family Support Service**

**| Salary £22,700 | **28 days holiday (pro-rata for part-time) plus an extra day’s holiday for your birthday | Five extra days holiday (pro-rata) after five years’ service | Up to three days volunteering per year | Development opportunities | Full training and a robust induction |

This position supports the Engagement Officers across all four quadrants of Essex and assists in supporting families as a whole unit towards improved wellbeing. A key function of the role is liaising with the families, triaging the referrals and maintaining communication throughout.

**Duties (to include but are not limited too)**:

- Liaising with the families, triaging the referrals and maintaining communication throughout.
- Support Engagement Officers with administration and diary management
- Assist the promotion of co-operation, joint action, partnership working and exchange of ideas between voluntary organisations and groups and all partners/Stakeholders.
- Assist and develop close working relationships with local statutory agencies, maintaining and enhancing the conduit between both voluntary and statutory partners.
- Assist in the review, preparation and writing funding bids.
- Assist with the maximisation of opportunities for generating income from all appropriate funding bodies (where appropriate commercial sponsorship and partnership).
- Assist with the organisation of meetings, room bookings, ensuring that appropriate paperwork is completed and statistics recorded
- Assist, facilitate, organise and contribute to the development of appropriate training courses for the benefit of the local community
- Assist, organise, contribute to and when delegated by the SEO or CEO, oversee the production of the weekly newsflashes, monthly Newslink and yearly annual report, to include website and social media.
- Assist with the compilation, completion and submission of monitoring returns as required for stakeholders and internal reporting in accordance with timelines.
- Ensure that all information and databases are kept up to date
- Respond to enquiries from organisations and/or members of the public with regard to activities in the local third sector, i.e. perform database searches and source information as appropriate
- Assist, organise, contribute to and, when delegated by the SEO or CEO, oversee exhibitions, displays and assist with press coverage and media
- Administration and assistance of internal and external relations regarding the Community Development Project
- Attend as appropriate, and participate in, internal meetings of the organisation, including, but not limited to, staff meetings, board meetings, the Annual General Meeting and Away Days promoting staff professional development and awareness.
