A business critical position responsible for planning and monitoring the materials used within production to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time and in full. The production planner coordinates material flow to maintain optimum inventory levels and ensure minimum stock write off.

Material

Ensuring consistent, controlled, and timely supply of materials to fulfil production requirement achieved through regular and consistent review of stock and forecast levels to achieve delivery to our customer On Time and In Full targets.
- Analyses material consumption and monitors customer demand patterns to create purchasing trends.
- Manages inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations.
- Interprets material requirements and prepares orders.
- Manages raw materials and printed packaging materials control process to ensure the most effective use of materials while remaining compliant with the minimum Stock Write Off (SWO) value.
- Monitors stock which is due to expire and identify if it is to be re-tested or written off (SWO).
- Maintains ERP system prices in coordination with Finance and provides support resolution of any queries.
- Reviews demand for materials in compliance with CD (Controlled Drugs) regulations.
- Expedites, as required, materials purchase orders for third party finished goods.
- Issues monthly demand schedule/forecast for key suppliers.
- Takes ownership for 5-year API forecast process.

Supplier

Facilitating optimum stock supply to support delivery by managing supplier relationships in order to meet our customer On Time and In Full targets:

- Prepares and issues monthly demand schedule/forecast for key suppliers.
- Defines schedule and monitors the supply and delivery of materials.
- Communicates with customers and suppliers to agree optimum supply plan.
- Co-ordinates Contract Packaging operations by reviewing supplier schedule in comparison to stock requirements.
- Engages in supplier relationship management (SRM) by participating in Procurement led business review meetings (BRM).

Education
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs of grade C/4 or above in Math’s & English (or equivalent) A level (or equivalent)
- Degree or professional qualification in business, logistics, inventory management or a related field. (preferred)

Certifications or Designations
- CIPS Procurement accreditation or other relevant certification or experience

Experience
- Fully competent in inventory management, purchasing, or a related position
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management
- Understanding of shipping and receiving process

Knowledge and Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and understanding of material management systems.
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to solve issues quickly, identify risk and escalate for assistance when necessary.
- Identifies where there is an opportunity for improvement, communicates the benefits and implements the change.
- Strong communication skills to build supplier relationships to manage orders and deliveries and support a complaint process.
