Behaviour Mentor
Location - Warrington, UK
Do you have experience working with challenging behaviours in young people? Are you looking for a long-term opportunity supporting children in schools? We are looking for a Behaviour Mentor or Teaching Assistant to work on a 1-2-1 basis with children who havebeen excluded from mainstream education. We are looking for an enthusiastic, engaging and empathetic Behaviour Mentor who is able to work closely with students to improve classroom behaviours, encourage engagement in lessons, and act as a positive role model.
On a daily basis you will be supporting in the classroom, providing breakout sessions and taking part in whole school activities (such as trips). In order to be considered for this role you must have experience working with children or young people.
Role:
Working on a 1-2-1 or small group basis
Help students to engage with lessons
Providing support to teaching staff when needed
Building rapport and trust with students
Leading on fun classroom activities
Ideally, you will:
Have experience working as a Behaviour Mentor or Teaching Assistant
Have worked with challenging behaviour and Special Needs
Be able to break down barriers to communication
Have a calm, patient and positive approach
Be able to challenge students when required
You will work under the guidance of teaching staff, to support the students in and out of the classroom. You should have good communication skills as you will have to liaise between both the students and class teachers.
- Have previous experience of working in a similar environment
- A willingness to participate in relevant training and development opportunities
- Be keen to learn and develop professionally
- Be able to work on their own initiative
- Be pro-active team members, committed to raising standards and achievements
- Have a passion for education and raising the achievement of all children
