**About the role**

Probation services officers can help make a real difference to peoples’ lives. It’s not always easy to help someone turn their life around, but it can be immensely rewarding.

We’re looking for empathetic, patient and resilient people to join us as probation services officers. As well as making a difference to others, the role offers plenty of on-the-job training and a real chance to build a career in the Probation Service.

As a PSO, you’ll have a similar job to a fully qualified probation officer. The main difference is you’ll work with medium and lower risk clients. That’s not to say it’ll be easy. There’s no doubt this is a challenging role.

If so, then a career as a Programmes Team Facilitator in South Central Probation Service could be for you.

As a Programmes Team Facilitator, you would be responsible for supporting people on probation through group-work and one to one programmes, to encourage them to make changes to live positive lives free from offending.

The Programmes Team deliver programmes in the areas of domestic violence, general offending and emotional management. As a Facilitator your role would be to plan, deliver and debrief a range of sessions to a group of individuals on key topics, such as assertive communication, thinking skills, problem solving, emotional management and social and relationship skills.

The Programmes Team is committed to learning and development, and full training for the role of Facilitator is provided, with regular support and supervision being provided throughout your journey and you will receive regular feedback as you develop your facilitation skills. Additionally, The role of a Facilitator is a collaborative one, and you will work closely with other team members to ensure that the people on probation receive the highest quality treatment and support.

No two days are the same Programme Facilitators have flexible work patterns and are available full or part-time which means the role is well suited to individuals who enjoy variety and may prefer a non-typical work pattern to accommodate other existing commitments (such as further education, caring or volunteer roles).

The Programmes Team is a strong, inclusive and tight-knit team of people, from all walks of life, who are passionate about helping and motivating people on probation to achieve their potential and take control of their actions and behaviours.

**About you**

You don’t need a degree for this role. We’re much more interested in your personal qualities. Ideally with experience of working with people who have social or personal difficulties, you’ll be empathetic, patient and resilient. Good writing skills are also essential. You must be able to produce clear and accurate reports to tight deadlines.
