**About The Service**
We have an exciting opportunity for a **Deputy Officer in Charge** who can lead, inspire, motivate and develop the home, staff and wellbeing of our young people we serve here at Ty Storrie, one of Cardiff’s Childrens Home for children and young people aged between 8 -17 with disabilities and complex needs.

Ty Storrie’s team offers support to families by providing an individual package of support and care to children and young people on an emergency basis, short breaks away from their family home and longer-term accommodation, which enables the children to develop skills, friendships and gain new experiences.

The team works from a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach meeting the needs of the resident children, young people and their families. We work as a team around the child and in close co-operation with parents and other professionals. All staff undertake a broad range of training and qualifications in Health and Social Care, registering with Social Care Wales.

The team is currently made up of:

- 1 Registered Manager,
- 1 Deputy Officer in Charge
- 2 Senior Residential Childcare Officers
- 10 Residential Childcare Officers
- 8 Waking night staff.

DEPUTY OFFICER IN CHARGE - Ty Storrie

The **role of the Deputy** will be essential to safeguard and promote the health and wellbeing of children and young people by fulfilling all duties and responsibilities required by statutory legislation, regulations and guidance.

The Deputy Officer in Charge assists the manager in the establishing and maintenance of a competent, motivated and confident staff team and to offer leadership, managerial direction, guidance and support to the staff team.

**What We Are Looking For From You**
- Proven experience at a senior level of working with young people in a residential childcare setting.
- Experience of caring for disabled children and young people and undertaking personal care.
- Ability to undertake and complete various assessments.
- Experience of working with a Behaviour support model of care.
- Ability to plan, organise, prepare reports and chair meetings.
- Ability to understand own duty of care, to safeguard and promote the interests of young people and challenge inappropriate practices.
- Excellent communication and organisation skills are required for this role.
- A relevant qualification that meets the equivalent criteria for Social Care Wales registration in addition to a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People).
- Full valid driving licence and sole use of vehicle.

**Generous Enhancements & flexible working hours**
- There are generous enhancements paid for evenings, weekend working, Bank Holidays and sleeping in duties, additional to your salary. You will receive an additional salary enhancement of 30% after 8pm weekdays, 50% weekends and £41.64 per sleep in.
- Sometimes we can offer part time but mostly full-time work positions.
- You would have one stable base but from time to time your skills and approach may be required to support our other homes. Our homes are all close together and would not involve unreasonable travel considerations.
