Innovate UK is currently undergoing a Data Strategy Implementation program with new data and AI solutions being created to help improve productivity, automate processes, and improve customer experience.

The Data Curator will be a key part of the growing Data team of which is core to implementing new and innovative solutions to support the business using data.

**Job Purpose**:
The post holder will be a part of the Innovate UK Business Systems & Insights function and will be a key member of the data team.

The role holder will execute the processes for identifying data quality issues under the direction of senior and lead data curators, document progress, and work through analysis of data issues in the work pipeline to achieve more consistent and accurate data outputs. These data issues will be resolved through small local system or process changes or larger organisation wide process changes. They may be technical enhancements or cultural changes.

The Assistant Data Curator will be the secondary contact for all EU Subsidy reporting and other statutory reporting requirements.

The role holder will assist with ad hoc data requests, often generating datasets and insights from different sources. They will have the opportunity to get involved in and influence cross cutting initiatives, using a digital by default principle.

They will provide ad-hoc systems knowledge and training for the wider organisation i.e. Excel use, data extracts and how to get them, and sharing knowledge of information available and it’s appropriate use and best practices for analysis.

**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:
The data curator will be the main point of contact for the business, providing regular legislative reports but also adhoc reporting and analysis, to include:

- Collation and validation of subsidy and key grant data from Innovate UK systems to support the regular reporting cycle
- Provide support to report development and visualisation tools, and provide training to colleagues on tools as required
- Enhancing reporting usability and capability to develop and encourage reporting self-service where appropriate
- Perform data validation and quality control checks to ensure robust and reliable outputs, including support in development of resolution of any identified issues
- Use data sources to identify new opportunities & system enhancements to improve data quality, modelling and reporting
- Identification of risk points in systems and systems-related processes, and actions required to address these
- Assist with EU reporting and grant funding, capturing issues and raise to appropriate individual or team for resolution
- Participate in and inform data curation lead and data team with regards to data product development
