An exciting opportunity is available for an Adult Safeguarding Senior Practitioner to join the West locality Flexible Care and Support Team. You will support the Area ACS social work teams, police, health colleagues and have close links to the Central Safeguarding Service to ensure the safety and well-being of adults at risk.

You will be working in a person-centred way using the safeguarding principles and in line with ‘Making Safeguarding Personal’ to bring about sustainable change in a proportionate and asset-based approach to support our residents.

**Your role**

**You will**:

- provide professional Safeguarding support to practitioners within the team alongside wider management support to include the West area teams
- be chairing Adult Safeguarding conferences as part of the role
- responsible for the delivery of the council’s strategic and visionary agenda to provide effective and best value services for the people of Suffolk
- be expected to promote Suffolk County Councils vision, objectives, and priorities effectively to your staff, our partners and the public. This includes inspiring others as a role model and demonstrating the values underpinning the organisation

**Your responsibilities**

You will:

- provide Safeguarding senior support as part of a team of safeguarding practitioners alongside a degree of management cover to support the team manager. This will include the ability to work alongside police colleagues, within the Integrated Health System and representation of Adult Social Care.
- be expected to undertake the Achieving Best Evidence Interview training as part of the role.
- be responsible for providing effective Safeguarding case management supervision through promoting a Signs of Safety approach to supervision and the oversight and timely closure of Section 42 enquiries.
- be expected to promote the values of Suffolk County Council and demonstrate professional leadership and promote development within the team. This includes promoting best practice, Organisational values and promoting a culture of high quality and best value for people living in Suffolk
- be responsible for managing complex and challenging cases.

As a Safeguarding Senior Practitioner, you will be managing change, leading high quality and effective ways of working, whilst also managing staff, resources, and projects to achieve the best possible outcomes for adults at risk, their families and/or nominated advocate/s.

**You will need**:

- to promote a high-performance culture within the area teams that is flexible, innovative, responsive to changing priorities and empowers people to deliver excellence, best value and continuous improvement for the people of Suffolk
- a clear focus on customer, families, carer and community needs, in the context of demand reduction, ensuring preventative and long term sustainable solutions which enable people to live long and fulfilling lives by maximising their independence
- to support the Team Manager in the Leadership and management of the area teams, ensuring effective operations in planning, programme development, human resources and staff development, and financial oversight.

Area Safeguarding Senior Practitioner in the Flexible Care and Support Team.
- lead complex safeguarding enquiries, with high levels of risk and legal implications
- embed learning from the Safeguarding Adults Review processes and other local learning reviews across the Area team
- produce high level reports and/or case chronologies for formal hearings including the CoP and Coroners Court
- actively engage and influence decisions at the Chair Strategy and Review meetings
- undertake Achieving Best Evidence (ABE) training and complete ABE interviews
- actively participate and influence at Locality Committees & networking meetings
- be the safeguarding lead for specific projects of the SAB and other key partnerships
- embed and encourage a culture of share
