We are one of the largest unitary Councils, we are creating a new function that supports both Childrens and Adult Care Services.

There are a number of new opportunities across the People Commissioning function for people who are both interested in building a career in public services and social care as well as opportunities for those who have lots more experience.

We still have a number of roles that will lead on a broad set of functions below:

- Establishing strategic commissioning and the intelligent client function for the Council across the delivery of people services
- Lead on driving innovation and excellence in service delivery
- Managing patterns of demand differently to improve outcomes
- Establishing strong and effective partnerships to commission services jointly across with health, housing and other providers.
- To lead the strategic transformation and reshaping of services over the medium to longer term.
- Working closely with providers to help them be the best that they can, not only delivering excellent services but also supporting them to deliver added social, economic and environmental value to the Cornish economy.

**Strategic Commissioning Leads**

This role is a key role in overseeing the successful delivery of our formal partnership with health commissioners, working to ensure we have a co-ordinated approach around joint commissioning, effective joint commissioning governance and that our partnerships are underpinned by good practice legal agreements which support us to understanding the impact in terms of improved outcomes.

**Purchasing Lead**

There is a new role heading up the new social care purchasing team reporting in the ‘Head of Quality, Workforce and Purchasing’. This role will manage a team of buyers who will be purchasing packages of care on behalf of social workers. This role is buying £millions of social care across care provision including care home, home care and supported living services for vulnerable adults. It will ensure on behalf of the Council that there is grip and control over our purchasing practice and that we are driving improvement in value for money, market sustainability and quality outcomes.
