Summary You'll be working within our Children and Young People (CYP) hub team. Carding Mill Valley is a key National Trust site for CYP and one of the most popular sites for school visits to the outdoors in the country.

You'll be working predominantly term-time only, four days a week during March to end of October, our peak season. There will be some days outside of this period, but far more limited.

**This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.**

Internally this role is known as Programming Assistant.

What it's like to work here You'll report to the manager of the Visitor Operation, who is also the Children and Young People Hub lead. You'll work with the CYP team alongside a Learning Assistant and Programming and Partnerships Officer and be part of the wider Visitor team of tenstaff.

The full staff team based at the Chalet Pavilion also includes Countryside, Stepping Stones Project and Food & Beverage staff who all work very closely together in a close-knit team, to make this buzzing property a fantastic place to work. There will alsobe opportunities to develop your knowledge and experience of working with CYP via the National Trust CYP Network, along with growing your understanding of the National Trust via other training opportunities.

Covering as much as 2,000 hectares (4,942 acres) of heather-covered hills with stunning views of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Welsh hills, this is an important place for wildlife, geology and archaeology. There are pathsfor walking, cycling and horse riding, you can even drive to the top of the hill to take in the views. In Carding Mill Valley there are excellent visitor facilities including a tea-room, shop and car parking.

Click here for more information about this location What you'll be doing During the peak season of school visits to Carding Mill Valley our CYP team welcome several coach loads of school students every day. You'll play a key role coordinating these visits via a pre-visit booking process and welcoming our students to ensure theirvisit is enjoyable with mínimal impact on this busy but sensitive site.

You’ll be involved in both self-guided tours for schools and take a more active involvement facilitating our guided tours. Working with our Volunteer team you’ll co-ordinate resource including preparing materials and you’ll also lead on certain activities.You’ll be giving briefing talks to self guided groups of up to 75 people. Our aim is to connect CYP to nature and the outdoors.

You’ll work outdoors in all weathers and be an active member of the Visitor team during weekdays. We all work together to ensure all visitors to Carding Mill Valley are welcomed with an exceptional level of service, so each visit is memorable.
