This is an exciting time to join the Department for International Trade (DIT). Our aim is to promote British trade and investment across the world which is vital for the prosperity of the UK.

This role is within the Department’s Services & Skills Directorate and is part of the Digital Commerce team. The Directorate covers a wide range of sectors which also includes Consumer & Retail, Education, Creative Industries, Sports and Financial & Professional Services.

The Digital Commerce team is responsible for running the Department’s Digital Exporting Programme which helps UK companies across various sectors export through digital channels. This includes working with international ecommerce marketplaces and third-party service providers such as logistics, VAT specialists, digital marketing agencies, banks, fintech companies, consultants etc, that can help UK companies succeed overseas.

This is a senior role which provides strategic leadership in the development and delivery of our overall partnership strategy for marketplaces and other organisations across the ecommerce ecosystem. This includes identifying and engaging the relevant partners then building and delivering on partner opportunities in the UK and internationally. The role holder will need to create a strategy that clearly supports DIT ambitions in areas such as levelling up, the digital trade strategy, FTA utilisation, etc. Note: this role will also provide some support to the Consumer & Retail team and will have a close working relationship with other sectors within the Directorate.

**Job description**

The job holder will be responsible for:
Defining and delivering our partnership strategy, building a pipeline of partnership opportunities globally, managing the pipeline and achieving partnerships targets, creating strong partnerships that will support UK companies to export through digital channels

Developing new partner structures, negotiating new formal partnerships for the Digital Exporting Programme and overseeing the process of agreeing mutually beneficial partnership terms. This includes securing new MoUs

Managing relationships with key international marketplaces and third-party suppliers to help educate UK companies on how to become successful in international markets through digital channels

Developing and delivering initiatives to further grow the Digital Exporting Programme. This includes delivering activities such as webinars and other trade promotion work. There will also be a requirement to develop joint marketing initiatives with partners, particularly around co-creating or leveraging existing white-label content

Developing, launching and managing a new partner led women’s initiative designed to support businesses owned/led female digital entrepreneurs to export

**Hybrid working**

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.

**Person specification**

**Essential Criteria**
- Strong partnership development experience across the ecommerce ecosystem
- Established track record of developing marketplace and other ecommerce partnerships from scratch and have shown you can lead, broker and close deals in a highly matrixed environment
- Strong understanding of online business on a global scale, the ecommerce ecosystem and a solid understanding of international digital marketing
- Excellent relationship management, influencing and collaborative skills. Proven leadership capabilities across all levels of partner organisations
- Solid experience in managing large scale projects simultaneously
- Excellent judgement under pressure the ability to operate in a complex environment
- Problem solving with the ability to think practically and overcome barriers to delivering project aims
- Strong presentation skills (written and verbal) and attention to detail
- Experience of working in a trade and/or investment promotion agency or similar government entity
- Experience of public speaking and delivering presentations to large audiences (virtually & in person)

- Good existing relationships and contacts across the ecommerce industry in the UK & internationally
- Experience defining and creating new partner value propositions for clients
- Commercial experience within an account management capacity
