Senior Supplier Relationship Manager

What you’ll be doing
- Define and develop a source of intelligence that encompasses the supplier, market and product market behaviours, trends and insights.
- Provide concise and accurate intelligence and business intelligence reports and briefs to the wider business leadership and executive group as required and where the intelligence has highlighted significant risk.
- Ensure that Highways England have a clear and transparent supply chain and is protected against all forms of Fraud and Counter Fraud.
- Working with suppliers across our business in increasing the opportunity to improve safety, customer and delivery performance through modernised, intelligence-led supplier relationships that will be better:

- Connecting leading business wide practices & target areas for development (sector & individual supplier level)
- Ensuring consistency in messaging, easier sharing of behavioural learning and reduced duplication of activity
- Creating mutual understanding of respective business plans and developing better ways to address sustainability & resilience risks - including specific supplier contingency planning and management during times of specific risk to Highways England.
- Providing clear and consistent leadership for the Supplier Relationship Team - inspiring, different and better customer service and supplier performance business and building the capacity, capability and expertise within the Group.
- Become the hub of supplier excellence. Build & share knowledge & insight with highways suppliers. Build highways supplier intelligence and relationships to deliver better value.
- Establish and deliver efficient and effective services, insight, best practice, advice and intelligence with the operational business and highways suppliers to allow them to better manage performance at programme and project levels. Developing appropriatetools, guidance and processes with highways suppliers and key stakeholders.
- Take ownership of and seek continuous improvement opportunities for the supplier relationship management operating process for the company.
- Identify value add innovations and opportunities through the extended highways supply chains as well as from other sectors and countries
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the company and the Directorate e.g. leaders on category management and value chains and other dependant workflows
- This role can be based in either of our Birmingham or Bristol offices although some regular travel will be required to National Highways offices and our supplier offices.

To be successful
- Demonstrable experience of shaping and implementing supplier development and performance transformation at a strategic level. Experience of working across organisational boundaries to deliver innovative solutions at pace.
- Demonstrate experience of using management information systems to produce actionable intelligence and concise reports that demonstrate tangible value add.
- Demonstrate experience of using supplier segmentation and engagement to create supplier relationship strategies and add value for all parties
- Demonstrate experience of creating business cases for investment in supplier relationship management initiative
