**Title**: Volunteer Archivist
- **Hours**: We ask for a minimum commitment of at least 3 months, 7-10 hours per week during our working hours (Monday-Friday, 9.00am to 4.30pm).
- **Salary**: Voluntary
- **Location**: Headway East London, Timber Wharf, 238-240 Kingsland Road E2 8AX, with occasional travel to Bishopsgate Institute, EC2M 4QH

**About the role**:
Headway East London are looking for an Archiving Volunteer to support with the creation of an archive, encompassing both digital and physical assets, celebrating 25 years of Headway East London’s work. The archive will be permanently housed at Bishopsgate Institute.

**Main duties**:

- To assist in the establishment of a comprehensive archive encompassing both digital and physical assets representing the rich history of Headway East London. This archive will find its permanent home at Bishopsgate Institute, ensuring long-term preservation and accessibility.
- Collaborating closely with the Heritage Project team, your role will involve developing an efficient and user-friendly framework for the ongoing management and preservation of the archive.
- Listing, describing and boxing records.
- To undergo training as required.
- To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.

**Person specification**:

- Currently enrolled in or has completed a degree or certification in archiving, records management, or a related field.
- General understanding of archival best practices and standards.
- An interest in preserving and promoting social and cultural heritage.
- Excellent organisational skills to accurately catalogue, preserve, and maintain records and archival materials.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Committed to the values, vision and objectives of Headway East London.

**Selection**:
The selection process is as follows:

- On receipt of satisfactory references, the applicant will be invited for an informal interview.
- A start date will be agreed.
- You will be asked to sign a Volunteer Agreement, Confidentiality and Consent forms.

Potential volunteers with a brain injury will go through stages 1 & 2 and then we will be asked to complete an additional form to ensure we give appropriate support. We will then ask them to come in for 1 hour, then decide the most suitable day and time.
