1. Introduction

1.1. The Work Experience Coordinator is responsible for connecting students with work or placement opportunities relevant to their field of study. These placements provide students with valuable experiential learning experiences, allowing them to develop skills and competencies that improve their employability. This role involves collaborating with employers to identify work placement and job opportunities for students and alumni, advising them on job search skills, and organizing job search skills training sessions for students and alumni.

Create and maintain systems, processes and procedures to ensure that work experience requirements of the curriculum are met, and employability and enterprising skills are developed among students.5. Key responsibilities

Work Placement Arrangements and Supervision

5.1. Ensure supervision arrangements are appropriate before students enter placements.5.2. Identify and allocate a placement supervisor for each setting during students’ placements to monitor and contribute to the continuous assessment of their progress.5.3. Assess students during their practice on placement.5.4. Ensure and support students in developing and maintaining a Practice Learning, Assessment, and Development (PLAD) portfolio.5.5. Monitor and facilitate the development of students’ professional skills and attributes to support progression in the sector to higher levels of education and/or wider employment prospects. 5.6. Ensure college policies, procedures, and manuals are embedded in the mandatory work placement arrangements.5.7. Oversee and report on students’ progress in their mandatory placements to the line manager, PEG, and other boards and committees.

Enhancing Students’ Employability and Job Opportunities

5.13. Develop and deliver lectures using updated content on the relevant units.5.14. Perform the role of internal verifier and assessor for students' work.6. Person Specification for Work Experience CoordinatorEssential Criteria6.1. Education and Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in healthcare or a related field.6.2. Experience:

- Experience in advising students or job seekers on career development and job search strategies. Experience in networking and building relationships with employers and industry stakeholders. Experience in the healthcare industry.6.3. Skills and Competencies:

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to assess and monitor students’ progress effectively. Competency in using various IT systems and software for managing placement records and student portfolios. Ability to develop and deliver engaging training sessions and lectures.6.4. Knowledge:

- Understanding of employability skills and requirements of various healthcare roles, such as Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner, Operating Department Assistant Practitioner, Prehabilitation and Rehabilitation Assistant Practitioner, Maternity Care Assistant Practitioner, and Community Care Assistant Practitioner. Knowledge of current job market trends and employer expectations in the health and care sectors in UK. Familiar with the UK health systems, particularly the NHS and public and private care home facilities. 6.5. Personal Attributes:

- Proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong problem-solving abilities. Commitment to student development and success.Desirable Criteria6.6. Education and Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in healthcare or a related field. Relevant professional certifications in career development or coaching. A statutorily registered healthcare professional such as a Health and Care Professions Council registered allied health professional or a Nursing and Midwifery Council registered nurse or midwife.6.7. Experience:

- Experience in a similar role, coordinating work placements, internships, or related activities, particularly in the healthcare sector. Experience in organizing large-scale events such as job fairs and employer forums. Experience in internal verification and assessment of student work. Skills and Competencies:

- Strong research skills to identify industry trends and employer needs. Ability to design and implement strategic initiatives to enhance student employability in healthcare.6.8. Knowledge:

- Knowledge of career counseling and employability frameworks. Familiarity with policies and procedures in educational settings related to work placements in the healthcare sector.6.9. Personal Attributes:
