Safeguarding Adults Practitioner

Main Duties & Responsibilities Work as team member within the safeguarding structure promoting the service and developing team skills. Provide support to the operational teams including assistance with compiling reports in line with Trust guidelines. Attend multi-agency safeguarding meetings as required. Attend operational group meetings in order to support ongoing development of best practice and positive practice in relation to the 'Think Whole Family' approach to safeguarding, mental capacity assessments, making safeguarding personal and deprivation of liberty.
Provide support and advice on safeguarding issues to operational teams across the Trust. This will be achieved using a blended approach of face to face, phone and virtual contact. Support staff participating in safeguarding enquiries. Support in the communication of relevant safeguarding information such as research and new guidance.
Maintain own professional competencies and knowledge. Provide cover for other team members during planned and unplanned absences. Communication Work with operational and safeguarding team colleagues to develop a model of safeguarding supervision that can be rolled out across the Trust. Ensure clear communication in the safeguarding supervision process.
Acknowledge and professionally challenge where there are differing professional opinions in a single or multi-agency arena. Challenge perceptions when needed and help practitioners challenge. Support critical and analytical thinking in cases and escalate when appropriate using the relevant resolving professional disagreements policy in each locality across the Trust. Assist practitioners to manage challenging situations through effective supervision.
Support staff with writing and producing reports for court. Promote the welfare and safeguarding of adults and families through a Think Whole Family approach. Communicate with statutory and non-statutory agencies within the health arena and the wider community. Assess, respond and adapt communication skills appropriately to the need of the receiving group/individual.
Organise and undertake multi-agency and management meetings as required. People Management Participates in recruitment, interviewing and appointment panels. Sickness absence service cover for colleagues. Flexible working practice depending on local needs.
Contribute and support managers in performance management and capability issues with staff. Research & Development Activity Critical appraisal of emerging research. Health needs data analysis and client satisfaction surveys. Service development and evaluation.
Participate in audits for internal and external purposes. Participate in Care Quality Commission self-evaluation. Clinical and Practice Governance Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act Any data that is taken/shared as part of a phone call or transported, faxed or transferred electronically must be undertaken with regards to the Trust Information Governance and Information Security policies. The post holder must adhere to the Trust risk assessment and risk management processes.
The post holder must adhere to infection control policies and procedures. It is a condition of your employment that you are currently registered with the NMC or Social Care England and it is your responsibility to maintain your professional registration. Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role as required by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust. The post holder must participate in clinical and other audits as required Participate in Clinical & Safeguarding supervision on a regular basis.
The post holder is required to participate in relevant emergency preparedness process for their team. Safeguarding People Responsibility Safeguarding children and adults at risk of abuse or neglect is a collective responsibility. There is an expectation that all staff develop and maintain their role relevant safeguarding people competencies and comply with local safeguarding partnerships practice. Alongside this employees who are registrants are reminded of their professional duty of care.
Safeguarding means protecting a citizens health, wellbeing and human rights; enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. It is an integral part of providing high-quality health care. Those most in need of protection include; children and young people and adults at risk, such as those receiving care in their own home, people with physical, sensory and mental impairments, and those with learning disabilities.
