Deputy Named Professional, Adult Safeguarding

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**: 1. Deputise for the Named Professional when appropriate. 2. Promote awareness within the Trust of everyones responsibility to safeguard adults and children at risk and promote their welfare.

3. Deliver specialist safeguarding supervision and reflective practice to practitioners on issues related to safeguarding adults and their families at risk using a Think Family approach to guide and support clinical practice. 4. To lead on development of defined areas of safeguarding practice as determined by Named Professional and Head of Safeguarding.

5. To support practitioners to embed a Think Family approach across the Trust. 6. To lead the safeguarding team in liaising with the Local Authority Safeguarding Teams.

Ensuring effective timely communication and information sharing both internally and externally, which supports multidisciplinary/interagency working, to include S42 Enquiries and Provider Led enquiries. 7. Provide expert advice, support, and guidance to all staff within CCS, in relation to safeguarding adults and their families. 8.

Encourage practitioners to listen to and act on the voice of the patient and wider family within their practice, record keeping and reports. 9. To be available to support staff as required, before, during and after all safeguarding meetings and for all court related activities and ensure staff have access to appropriate legal advice when required. 10.

To represent the Named Professionals at any multi-agency strategic groups as appropriate. This may include quality assurance or themed sub-groups for the local multi agency safeguarding arrangements. 11. Support practitioners in the development and/or analysis of case chronologies that identifies the risk and resilience in the patient and their families.

Develop and agree actions that drive forward safeguarding practice. 12. Support practitioners to produce high quality reports to present as evidence in court to safeguard adults and at risk and their families. 13.

Act as an autonomous practitioner when advising and supporting decision making. 14. To work with Trust staff to promote best practice, identify risk factors and initiate or escalate appropriate action to safeguard people at risk of or suffering from abuse. 15.

To contribute to collaborative interagency working and quality assurance frameworks for safeguarding. 16. To assist the Named Professionals and Safeguarding Teams to provide data in relation to Quality Key Performance Indicators, self-assessments, and other information as requested by the wider Trust or partner agencies. 17.

To support staff dealing with the emotional trauma that safeguarding work can evoke on self and others, seeking support when necessary. 18. Plan, develop, facilitate, and evaluate training packages within the organisation and as needed in partnership with other agencies where multi agency training is provided 19. To support the dissemination and embedding of learning from safeguarding incidents and to manage team members and roles and responsibilities associated with this 20.

Undertake/support with Mental Capacity Assessments, best interest decision making and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards within the scope of your accountability and skills. 21. Undertake/Support and guidance on all matters relating to Prevent within your scope of accountability and skills. 22.

To escalate complex safeguarding cases with partner agencies where appropriate with consideration to Court of Protection when required. 23. To attend and contribute to relevant multi-agency forums and LSAB sub-groups as identified with Named Professional, ensuring the provision of expert advice to all relevant external agencies e.g. social care, police, Safeguarding Adult Boards, and act as a reference point to these agencies.

24. To work with the Named Professional to plan, monitor and implement the audit programme together with the Safeguarding Team and support staff where necessary in undertaking these. 25. Ensure all staff can respect diversity and equality, to take account of differences in assessing, planning, and implementing care.

**Communication**: 1. To support staff with the communication of complex and sensitive information effectively with adults at risk and their families. 2. Maintain good relationships with other professional leads and all members of staff, thus developing professionalism through the organisation.
