We are currently looking for a Garment Technologist to join our Design team to deliver high quality garments and develop new and exciting designs whilst maintaining stringent quality standards for our existing product portfolio.

**Job Purpose**:
As our Garment Technologist, you will be responsible for ensuring all Because of Alice products are of the highest quality, meeting all relevant quality standards and are technically sound. You will manage our current Junior Garment Technologist and work closely alongside our Design, Sourcing and Merchandising teams to ensure that both new and existing products are manufactured to the highest standards and meet all relevant quality and functionality criteria.

**Role and Responsibilities**:

- Overseeing the product development process, from the initial design concept to the final product, ensuring both the fit of all garments but also that each design is technically sound and meets our quality standards.
- Working closely with our Design team to understand the design requirements and providing technical guidance and support through weekly fit meetings.
- Leading our weekly fit meetings from a technical standpoint with the input of the Design team. Ensuring all sample comments are clear and concise, using diagrams and analysing product patterns where necessary to provide detailed and accurate technical feedback.
- Keeping in regular contact with our Supplier network throughout the sampling process to ensure feedback is implemented correctly.
- Making appropriate updates to Designers' Tech Packs; adding necessary amendments to finishes/trims/measurements from a functionality perspective.
- Developing and maintaining technical specifications and guidelines, including detailed sketches, construction details and sizing information, for both new and existing product categories.
- Managing the development and maintenance of our size guides, grading rules and specifications as well as product standards manuals or documentation.
- Working closely with our various international Suppliers to ensure that all garments are manufactured efficiently and to the highest standards whilst maintaining strong lines of communication and nurturing our Supplier relationships.
- Taking ownership of our QC process with the assistance of both our Sourcing Manager and Data Analyst to maintain existing product standards and rectify any product faults quickly and efficiently, feeding back issues to relevant Suppliers.
- Managing our existing Junior Garment Technologist; delegating necessary tasks whilst providing guidance and shadowing opportunities to maximise her skillset and build a smooth running and efficient Garment Technology department.
- Ensuring that relevant products comply with safety and quality standards, including fabric testing, wash testing, and colorfastness testing if necessary.
- Continually reviewing and improving our technical processes and systems to ensure the department operates efficiently and effectively.
- Keeping a database of accurate records of all technical processes and specifications for future reference.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Technology or a related field
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within a Women's clothing brand
- A proven track record of developing and delivering high-quality products across multiple categories, with a keen eye for detail
- An excellent technical knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting, fabric properties grading, sizing and manufacturing processes
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage a small team
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both with cross-functional teams including our Design & Sourcing departments but also with International Suppliers
- Ability to assist with the management of our Quality Control processes
- Experience working with International factories and Suppliers, especially in the Far East
- Exceptional attention to detail & quality standards
- A familiarity with relevant safety and quality standards, including testing methods and procedures
- Highly organised with the ability to self manage is essential
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
- An interest in premium Women's fashion would be advantageous
- Previous experience in a premium/high-end establishment would be desirable
