Vacancy Description

Are you an experienced housing professional with strong leadership skills? Do you have a passion for improving access to affordable housing and supporting vulnerable individuals and families? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Housing Service as a Housing Allocations Team Leader.

This is for a 6 month fixed term period between 1st February 2024 until 30th August 2024 due to maternity leave.

As the Housing Allocations Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of housing allocation services within West Berkshire. You will lead and motivate a team of allocations officers, overseeing the allocation of social and affordable housing to individuals and families in need. You will be responsible for managing the allocation process, conducting reviews, and implementing policies and procedures in line with relevant legislation and best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise and support a team of allocations officers, ensuring effective workload management and performance monitoring.
- Develop and implement allocation policies and procedures, in collaboration with the Housing Operations Manager.
- Maintain accurate records in the housing management system, providing regular reports to senior management.
- Liaise with housing providers, support agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective partnership working.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on housing allocations to colleagues and service users.
- Skills and Attributes:
Previous experience in a housing management role or similar, with a solid understanding of housing allocations.
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations governing social housing allocations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results.
- A passion for social housing and improving the lives of vulnerable individuals and families.
