**Job Purpose**
To make a leading contribution to develop social interaction and communication technologies in the Centre for Social, Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience, including technologies to generate 3D dynamic human social signals, such as facial expressions, body movements, and voices, multimodal signals and dyadic interactions, plus 3D scenes and other socially related multimodal signals, the use and development of AI-related technologies to support these developments.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Play a leading role in the management and development of research projects and to work independently and in collaboration to bring projects to a successful completion including establishing and maintaining external collaborations both nationally and internationally.
2. Play a leading role in the planning, design and conduct of research, individually or jointly, in accordance with project deliverables and project/School/College/University research strategy.
3. Establish and maintain an extensive research profile and reputation and that of the University of Glasgow/School/Centre and sustaining a track record of independent and joint publications of international quality in high profile/quality refereed journals, enhancing the research impact in terms of economic/societal benefit, and gathering indicators of esteem.
4. Play a leading role in the presentation of research findings at high profile national and international conferences, seminars and meetings to enhance the research profile of project/Institute/College/University.
5. Lead the development, both independently and in collaboration with others (including stakeholders) of the identification of potential funding sources and lead in the development of proposals to secure funding from internal and external bodies to support future research of international quality.
6. Take a leading role in developing and maintaining collaborations with colleagues across projects and in the broader School/College/University and wider community (e.g. academic and other collaborators/partners).
7. Play a leading role in the organisation, supervision, mentoring and training of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students and less experienced members of research teams to ensure their effective development.
8. Perform administrative tasks related to the activities of the research group and School, including Budgets/Expenditure.
9. Supervise Masters students and act as co-supervisor to PhD students as assigned by the Head of Centre and/or senior group leader.
10. Perform administrative tasks related to the research activities in the Centre, including budgets/expenditure.
11. Keep up to date with current knowledge and recent advances in the field/discipline in order to provide advice and guidance to students and less experienced colleagues.
12. Engage in personal, professional and career development, to enhance both specialist and transferable skills in accordance with desired career trajectory.
13. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School/Head of Centre.
14. Contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan, Inspiring People Changing The World.

**Knowledge and Skills**

**Essential**:
C2 Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge in areas relevant to the field of research.
C3 Knowledge of project-specific technical models, equipment or techniques.
C4 An established track record of presentation and publication of research results in quality journals and/or at conferences.

**Experience**

**Essential**:

E1 Sufficient depth of relevant research experience, normally including sufficient postdoctoral experience in a related field, appropriate to an early career researcher.
E2 Experience of delivering quality outputs in a timely and efficient manner.
E3 An established national/international profile.
E4 Experience of making a leading contribution in academic activities.
E5 Experience of independence as illustrated by identification of project objectives from assessment of literature, design and analysis of research data and drafting of papers.
E6 Commitment to open research, as appropriate to the discipline, through open data, open code, open educational resources and practices that support replication.
E7 Proven commitment to supporting career development of colleagues and to other forms of collegiality appropriate to the career stage.

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 8, £48,350 - £56,021 per annum.
This post is full time and open ended.
