This is an exciting role within the Health Protection Operations in UKHSA. As the Head of Regional Engagement, you will be responsible for leading the coordination of the local, cross government and sector engagement at the regional level working as part of UKHSA regional team to provide and support the delivery of health protection initiatives for alignment with wider government priorities. This includes working closely with senior leaders within the UKHSA Regional Team and local authority Chief Executives, Directors of Public Health, NHS and other local partners on an ongoing basis to ensure effective engagement, and thus delivery of both response and public health programmes as well as co-design health security policy and responses.

**This role will be based at our Canary Wharf office**: 10 South Colonnade, E14 4PU.

The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business needs and in line with departmental policy.
- Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas. Relocation expenses are not available. *

The postholder will be part of the regional team and working across the region will lead coordination of the local interface to ensure the UKHSA regional team has effective engagement with Local Authorities, NHS, and other partners on the development and implementation of policy and guidance. They will play a pivotal role in leading provision of support to central and regional policy and strategy colleagues in working with local partners to provide advice and guidance on how and who to engage with, to support effective policy implementation and local relationship management.

As the Head of Regional Engagement your main responsibilities will include:
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities, and duties:

- Lead the development, consultation, implementation, and evaluation of engagement strategies, plans and programmes that support the work of
- Provide strategic leadership for the development of a robust regional stakeholder map based on existing relationships and analyse past performance to assess future relationship and engagement requirements to support programme development. Identify current gaps in managing stakeholders and seek to make effective changes to stakeholder development. Maintain a future focus outlook on stakeholder movements so that adjustments can be made and any new relationships with stakeholders
- Lead and facilitate forums to address health protection challenges and which build relationships across government, regional sectors, and local partners to strengthen policy and
- Build strong and effective working relationships with communications teams to better collaborate in communicating information to shared audiences that respond to and satisfy the communications needs of diverse audiences including clients, government stakeholder groups, partners, media, and internal
- Support projects and significant programmes of work to influence culture within UKHSA
- Engage with and facilitate support from relevant UKHSA supporting services and connecting to relevant national programmes of
- Lead engagement to build and maintain relationships to enable provision of local interpretation, input and advice on health protection policy, leading regional engagement with other government departments and networks proactively sharing policy updates and increased knowledge of UKHSA outputs and deliverables.
- Lead provision of the regional focal point to answer strategy and policy questions for feedback on the national programmes or initiatives to inform.
- Lead strategic coordination and engagement with internal and external stakeholders to increase the knowledge and awareness of health protection and public health issues and the translated impact of policy changes.
