Job title:
Early Years Educator Apprentice

Job Purpose:

- To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for children within the Pre-school.
- To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, develop, and learn.
- To build and maintain strong partnership working with parents to enable children’s needs to be met.
- To complete all academic aspects of the apprenticeship.

Main Duties:

- To effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met.
- To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs.
- To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories.
- To advise management of any concerns, over children, parents, the safety of the environment etc, preserving confidentiality, as necessary.
- To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.
- To work alongside the management and staff team to ensure that the setting’s philosophy is fulfilled.
- To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting.
- To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
- To be aware of the high profile of the setting and to always uphold its standards, both in work hours and outside.
- To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are always maintained.
- Provide high quality indoor and outdoor experiences for children in line with our Pre-school policies and the guidelines of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS.)
- Monitor the development of the children through regular observations uploaded onto our online journal system and use these to plan the children’s next steps.
- Share children’s learning journeys with parents, carers, and other key adults in the child’s life.
- Ensure a diverse curriculum of activities for all children based on their individual needs and the EYFS. This should consider the indoor and outdoor environment and should challenge and stretch the interests of the children and allow them to become confident, capable and have a positive self-image.
- Promote and role model best practice, particularly in social interaction and relationships with children.
- Provide a safe environment with risk assessments in place.
- Ensure safeguarding is of the highest priority and report any concerns immediately.
- Attend any training courses, conferences and Pre-school meetings as required, some of which may be outside of the normal working hours, and continually update knowledge of current childcare issues, legislation, and practices.
- Ensure you always act in the interests of your own safety and the safety of others.
- Follow **1stStep Pre-school’s** Safeguarding, Child Protection and Safer Working practice policies at all times and take any concerns regarding health and/or well-being to management.
- Any other duties reasonably requested by management.

Pay: £11,648.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
