**Specialist Registrar Neonatal Medicine**

**We have an exciting opportunity for an StR (Higher) to work with us at** **University Hospitals Plymouth in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and specialising in neonatal medicine.**

We are looking for a dedicated doctor ready to work in a Trust that puts their patients at the heart of everything they do.

This Role is a 12 -month placement opportunity (with possibility to be longer) within the excellent team in the NICU. You will be responsible for providing exceptional care to neonates in the largest maternity unit on the peninsula.

Although this role would be predominantly based in Plymouth University Hospitals NHS Trust there may be the opportunity to work across any of our partner Trusts.

- **Shift Pattern**: long days/nights (negotiable shift pattern)

- **Duration**: 12 Months
- **Pay rate**: £50-£70 per hour (depending on experience)

This role is based in the NICU which currently has 14 intensive high dependency, 8 special and 18 transitional care cots, with a 7 day a week neonatal outreach service.

**General workload includes**:

- Providing exceptional neonatal care to inpatients and acute admissions
- Working with the wider team, including supervising consultants to make plans for management and ongoing care
- Attending ward rounds
- Providing care using Immediately available facilities include all ventilatory modes, inhaled nitric oxide, diagnostic and functional echocardiography, neuro-imaging (US, CT and MRI), neurophysiology (CFM and video-linked EEG) and total body hypothermia.
- Assist in teaching medical undergraduates, junior doctors, and other health care professional staff
- Continuing professional development as defined by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and within the Child Health department.

- Full GMC licence to practice
- MRCPCH Part I (Or equivalent)
- Minimum of 12 months General Professional Training or equivalent
- At least 18 months paediatric training, including 6 months neonatology.
- APLS or equivalent
- Child Protection level 2 Course
- Must be able to cover nights and long days
