The clinical duties of the post include the day-to-day care of the patients who are seen in the Childrens Emergency Department and inpatient medical wards, Critical Care Unit and Day Case Unit. During the attachment at RACH, trainees gain experience in general paediatrics embracing paediatric medicine, paediatric surgery, ambulatory care and emergency paediatrics. There are also specialised clinics run by local paediatricians, and joint clinics with visiting consultants from teaching centres. You will work a combination of day shifts, long days, night shifts and weekends as part of a European Working Time Directive compliant rota of approximately 13 full-time equivalent people.
