**Job summary**:
The responsibilities for the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology for 2023 are as follows:

**Job description**:

- The International Data Flows Unit’s mission is to champion the international flow of data whilst keeping individual’s data safe. We do this by developing tools and mechanisms to enable flows and collaborating with partners both bilaterally and multilaterally to influence global data governance.-
**Person specification**:
**Main Responsibilities**:

- Developing strong relationships with external business/academia/civil society stakeholders on data flows, including (but not limited to) those sitting on the Expert Council.
- Monitor outputs from industry and other stakeholders - summarising key reports, flagging areas of interest, and sharing relevant outputs with the wider team.
- Develop UK policy (including through producing short discussion papers/hosting workshops etc) in response to emerging trends/initiatives as required - working closely with legal and analytical colleagues, and advising seniors on next steps.
- Provide secretariat support for the Expert Council - preparing agendas/plans and coordinating regular meetings for the group, and providing administrative support for the recruitment and selection process for cohort 2.

- A track record of delivering objectives in a complex policy/political environment.
- Strong communication skills, and the ability to work across and beyond departmental boundaries.
- The ability to build and maintain relationships with senior level stakeholders within and externally to government.
- The ability to think strategically and work with legal and analytical colleagues to produce well evidenced and designed policy recommendations which reflect the risks and benefits of various options.
- A commitment to positive and inclusive leadership.
