Siemens is creating its first UK based Rail Industry Hub on the outskirts of Goole in the East Riding of Yorkshire. With an initial contract to assemble nearly 50 trains to service the Piccadilly line on the London Underground we are starting to recruit up to 300 skilled technical and support colleagues in our Manufacturing Facility.

In the near future follow-on work is expected to bring this number of trains into the hundreds, along with an expansion on the site into maintenance and overhaul activities displaying a long-term commitment to the area and growth in employment and career opportunities.

The Operational Procurement Lead is a crucial role as they will be responsible smooth functioning of procurement team and material availability throughout the production line. The role will be office based with slight flexibility.

**You will make an impact**:

- Taking responsibility for the co-ordination of operational procurement and supply chain activities to ensure material availability for the production line. They will work with a wide range of stakeholders throughout the supply chain to resolve issues and blocking points, all with the focus of ensuring on time in full delivery of materials.
- Monitoring and managing the materials supply chain by interrogating data to identify risks to the production flow of the factory, mitigating and / or escalating as required. They will be the first escalation level for the Purchasing team in the event of issues relating to order fulfilment.
- Working closely with the wider logistics and strategic procurement teams, maintaining an awareness of external impacts and production demand concerns, working to help find solutions to the benefit of all.

**You will demonstrate**:

- Understanding of Procurement activities at both a strategic and operational level and an awareness of any issues that may impact the materials supply chain or prevent on-time in-full deliveries.
- Adept at problem-solving and able to work through complex supply chain topics with exceptional communication skills.
- Highly I.T. literate and comfortable producing and analysing large amounts of data.

**It would be beneficial to have**:

- MRP / ERP systems (SAP highly preferable)
- Relevant supply chain qualification (APICS / CIPS)
- Working in a supply chain as part of a wider manufacturing process
