Applications are invited for this exciting role with the ARC East of England. We are looking for a Senior Programme Support Officer to join our core team. The main tasks involve supporting the ARC Business and Operations manager and Deputy to ensure the ARC strategy is managed successfully at an operational level by leading on our communications strategy, ensuring accurate data and information are recorded and reported, engaging and maintaining the involvement of stakeholders and themes across the ARC, organising events, and maintaining cohesion within ARC regionally and nationally.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research Applied Research Collaboration (NIHR ARC) East of England is a collaboration between the host trust, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust, and the Universities of Cambridge, East Anglia, Hertfordshire and Essex in partnership with other health and social care organisations, industry and charities across the region. The aim of the ARC East of England is to support applied health and care research, implementation, and capacity building at a local, regional, national and international level.

The role will include a focus on all aspects of ARC communications, including overseeing website and social media channels; linking with communications colleagues within our partner organisations; organising events; and maintaining cohesion within ARC regionally and nationally.

The post holder will be expected to work autonomously and as part of a team. We operate a flexible approach with team members working both at home and at the Douglas House office based in Cambridge, therefore travel across the Eastern region will be required. Due to predominantly working from home, the role requires self-motivation and the ability to work to tight deadlines.

1. Responsible for leading on Communications Strategy and workplan for the ARC EoE
2. Responsible for the delivery of Communications outputs such as regional and national newsletters, social media, visual summaries, blogs, films/video output etc.
3. Gathering and collating information for ARC EoE reporting (quarterly and annual) and others as required
4. Provide information and support to the ARC Business and Operations Manager on the performance of the ARC and use knowledge and information to help achieve the aims of the ARC
5. Support ARC Manager and Deputy in financial planning and budgeting
6. Plan and co-ordinate local and regional events supporting the ARC programme and its work streams.
7. Responsible for supporting some of the ARC themes
8. Responsible for organising and controlling own and others workload ensuring deadlines are observed and duties performed efficiently.
9. Work with the executive group to lead on or assist in the implementation of current and new Communication projects, processes and initiatives
10. Provide executive level meeting administrative support including organising meetings, taking, writing and distributing minutes.
11. Deputise for the Business and Operations Manager and Deputy when required.
12. Build and maintain good relationships with regional research and development departments, research themes and other ARCs.
13. Support ARC themes to deliver their research strategy.
14. Support communication with colleagues and partners through negotiation, influencing, listening and understanding, to ensure effective joint working.
15. Support the delivery of the ARC finance strategy and take day to day responsibility for financial activities including requisitions, purchase orders and setting up supplier information.
16. Support in completing sections of the NIHR annual financial, activity and progress reports and assist in financial planning.
17. Support the Business and Operations Manager in ensuring all themes operate within their agreed budget.
18. Identify potential areas of under or overspend and suggest means of adapting expenditure accordingly.
