**About us**:
This one-year, full-time role will be based at the UCL Department of Security and Crime Science, which is in the Faculty of Engineering. It is a multidisciplinary department that focuses on high-quality, applied research into crime and security challenges. The Department has a very strong track record for excellent research with real-world impact. The project sits within the research group on Human Trafficking, Smuggling, and Exploitation. This is a vibrant research group working towards more evidence-based approaches to understanding and responding to various sensitive and complex issues, including using state of the art statistical modelling. This position has been created to support the project ‘Assessment of the Scale and Nature of Labour Market Non-compliance in the UK’, which has been generously funded by the Department of Labour Market Enforcement and the Economic and Social Research Council. Commissioned by the Director for Labour Market Enforcement, it is an innovative mixed methods study mapping the breadth and depth of labour market non-compliance and other key labour market abuses experienced by precarious workers in the UK.

**About the role**:
This post has three main elements. First, the post holder will contribute to the work on a survey of precarious workers. This will involve the analysis of data gathered from a subsample of the Understanding Society (US) Survey and the emerging data from the accompanying Respondent-Driven Sampling started by the US participants. The post holder will be asked to monitor the data collection, carry out analysis, fine-tune the survey weights, and be in contact with the survey company, Kantar. They will be expected to contribute to an interim report and the final report, as well as various peer-reviewed journal articles and other outputs as lead or co-authors depending on their individual contribution.

Second, and with the help of the project team, the post holder will lead on the organisation of an international conference and accompanying workshops. These events will take place at UCL in July 2024 and are designed to disseminate the project results, introduce others to the new datasets, and tie in this new study with other cutting-edge research internationally. They will be asked to assist with logístical support and give presentations related to the work undertaken by them. Depending on their availability and other commitments, they will also be asked to present at other conferences as relevant, for which funding will be provided by the project.

Third, the post holder will continue to build their own research agenda, conducting their own research and/or generating outputs from projects already undertaken. In line with UKRI conventions, this person will be able to devote one-third of their timeto their own research. It is considered advantageous should their other research interests and agenda align with Department’s broader aims and complement other research within the Department.

**About you**:
Applicants should have strong relationship building skills, and excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise in the face of competing demands with a proven ability to plan effectively and deliver work. They should have experience of communicating with a range of audiences and excellent customer service skills. Good knowledge of IT including Microsoft Office is essential.
