OTR Social Media and Website Volunteer

Job description

Off The Record (OTR) is an independent charity based in the Havant Borough area and has been supporting young people and their families in South East Hampshire since 1977.

Young people are at the heart of what we do, and we aim to support the emotional health and wellbeing of our community's young people through one-to-one counselling, family counselling, group work and supporting Young Carers in Havant.

We would like our social media to showcase what we have to offer for young people, their parents, and our sponsors alike. We want to promote young people’s mental health and wellbeing, the local community, and inclusivity whilst we spread the word of what OTR has to offer.

We are looking for an ambitious individual, with knowledge of digital marketing, who is keen to develop and grow their hands-on experience in our organisation.

We want someone who cares about mental health and wellbeing for young people, with creative flair and a passion to make a difference to join our team as a volunteer website and social media assistant.

OTR is proud to have been awarded the ‘Investing in Volunteers’ accreditation, so you can be sure of a high quality and rewarding volunteering experience, surrounded by dedicated individuals, passionate about young people’s mental health.

Hours and Volunteer Slot Information: The role is remote working, so voluntary hours can be flexible to suit the successful volunteer, as long as regular meetings with line coordinators can be facilitated, deadlines listed below are met and the social media is regularly updated.

Note: This vacancy is for one role. The role will be predominantly remote, with occasional travel to the Leigh Park (PO9) office.

Due to our needs for Safer Recruiting, please provide:

- A full CV (accounting for all gaps in employment).
- Answer the questions which explain why you would like to work at OTR as a Volunteer Website and Social Media Assistant

Interviews will be an informal chat with our Volunteer Coordinator & Business Support Officer, Vicki, and the Head of Fundraising, Katharine.

What would a successful Social Media and Website Volunteer at OTR look like?
- IT Skills - good working knowledge of WordPress, Canva, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn is required.
- Cinematography Skills - ability to make and edit high quality content is required.
- Self-Motivated and Organised - able to manage own tasks proactively to ensure OTR’s social media is regularly updated.
- Communication - as a predominantly remote role, regular contact and updates detailing the tasks you have done and any assistance you require is needed.
- Attention to Detail - all tasks produced must be high quality, accurate, accessible to the audience, appropriate to the platform, aesthetically pleasing and in line with OTR’s Branding Guidelines.
- Compassionate - caring about mental wellbeing, with a positive attitude to the young people and community we serve. Truly committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion for all.

What would the successful Social Media and Website Volunteer be doing?
- Making templates on Canva to use on social media for now and in the future, using OTR’s branding guidelines.
- Making and scheduling high quality posts on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram which fulfil OTR’s requirements, including:

- Promoting our services
- Thanking our funders and donors
- Promoting mental wellbeing
- Acknowledging important dates from the mental health calendar
- Promoting relevant local services
- Make edits and improvements to OTR’s WordPress website as required.
- Make recommendations as to how to build and engage supporters across all platforms.

What training would a successful Social Media and Website Volunteer receive?
- An induction will take place, covering areas which are required for the role.
- There are no specific training requirements for this role, however support and guidance will be available from the Volunteer Coordinator & Business Support Officer and Head of Fundraising as needed.

What difference will you make?

The more awareness that OTR has, the more help we can provide young people and their families in our community. Your creative input and knowledge in social media will help us to reach more supporters and make our long-term goals achievable by growing our impact and reach.
