**Spiritual Care Practitioner**

**Permanent, Part time**

**Hours: 22.5 hours per week**

**Salary: £30,935.41 -£36,970.67 per annum, pro rata £18,561 - £22,182. Please note, starting salaries are usually set at the bottom of the scale.**

**Location: Martin House Children's Hospice and in the community**

Martin House is one of the leading children’s and young people’s hospices in the UK. Specialist palliative care is life-long supportive care. It’s all-encompassing and provided to children and their families over time. Alongside medical care, children access play and wellbeing activities, experience therapeutic treatments and different types of support involving a huge range of activities including home visits. This support extends to the whole family with parents and siblings involved throughout.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Spiritual Care Practitioner to join our Family Support and Wellbeing Team. This post holder will provide specialist spiritual care to children, young people and their families who are living with life limiting conditions or who are bereaved and may be experiencing complex and acute level of spiritual distress.

This post-holder will offer training to our multi-professional palliative care team on spiritual care and build strong links with local faith communities.

Because of the essential outreach and networking component of this post, the post holder will be expected to travel to venues and locations in the community. This will include travelling out of normal office hours and to destinations that may not have public transport so access to your own transport is essential.

Experience of working with families who have children with complex or palliative needs would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Be dedicated, compassionate, warm, and always work in collaboration with others.
- Be open, flexible, responsive, and be driven to deliver high standards in everything you do.
- Practice the Martin House values including being child and family focused, listening, and valuing others, working holistically, and being dedicated to care.
- Want to work in a well-established, award-winning hospice, working as part of the multidisciplinary team to support the children, young people, and their families from the time of their referral through end-of-life care and into bereavement.
- Have significant experience of working with people in health, education, or social care settings.
- Be good at building rapport and making people feel at ease.
- Have good IT skills and the ability to record care accurately and contemporaneously.
