We have a great opportunity to join the education team at HMYOI Wetherby as a Learning Support Practitioner on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.**At Novus we work with passion, care and commitment to create the foundations for change.


For almost 30 years we have been helping men, women and children of all ages and abilities, in prison settings across England and Wales, to take new directions.

What the role entails


The purpose of this role is to provide support to men across two vocational training workshops to develop basic maths and English skills as well as to identify learning support needs.

You will be required to work with the trainer in each area to assist men who require support to enable them to achieve their goals.


What we need from you
In order to be successful in the role of Learning Support Practitioner you will need:

  • To have an understanding of how people learn and methods that can be used to enhance a learning experience
  • To have a track record of working effectively with people presenting with challenging behaviour
  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Maths and English at level
  • Have a track record of working effectively with people presenting challenging behaviour
