Complete Classroom Services are working with a **Secondary SEN school in Harrow**, who are looking for a resilient **Special Needs Teaching Assistant**. You will be supporting secondary-aged pupils with complex behavioural needs associated with mental health challenges. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to help students overcome social and emotional obstacles.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work closely with secondary-aged pupils who have complex behavioural needs associated with mental health challenges, providing one-to-one and group support as required.
- Promote emotional regulation strategies, providing students with tools to manage their emotions and responses effectively.
- Champion independence and functional life skills, empowering students to develop essential skills for everyday life.
- Demonstrate resilience and empathy during behavioural outburst, always maintaining a calm approach.
- Calmly and effectively de-escalate outbursts.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to implement individualised support plans and strategies, adopting a trauma-informed approach.
- Foster positive relationships with students, building trust and rapport to encourage engagement in learning activities.
- Assist with the implementation of therapeutic interventions and techniques to support students' mental health and well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to the relevant stakeholders as necessary.

The successful **Special Needs Teaching Assistant** will have:

- Previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils with complex behavioural needs and mental health challenges is essential.
- A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Demonstrated resilience and empathy, with the ability to effectively support students with complex needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
- Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and strategies for supporting students with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Relevant qualifications or training in special needs education or mental health support is desirable.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Access to Good References and an Enhanced DBS

**Safeguarding**

Complete Classroom Services are highly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. You will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau) and undergo due diligence checks on social media use.

All school-based staff have the responsibility for promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children. All school staff should be aware of the school’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and work in accordance with this document at all times.

**Salary**: £80.00-£100.00 per day
