You will be involved in the design and synthesis of molecular glue and PROTAC degraders that bind to E3 ligases, multi-protein enzyme complexes that tag substrate proteins with ubiquitin. You will critically analyse data to inform the design of new target molecules and solve project challenges and will work closely with cell and structural biologists to characterise the binary and ternary binding parameters of the lead compounds. The goal of the project is to develop novel molecular glues that degrade the target proteins for treatment of cancers.

You will join a diverse, fast-paced and collaborative team based within the Ciulli group and have the opportunity to work closely with medicinal chemists and biologists within the collaboration, as well as with other scientists more widely in the Ciulli group. You should exhibit excellent communication and collaborative skills for working on multi-disciplinary teams.

**Location**: The postholder will be based at the newly refurbished CeTPD Complex, adjacent to the Life Sciences Complex.
- A Ph.D. in chemical biology, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or a related discipline.
- Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry and synthetic route design.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

Who we’re looking for:

- Experience with biophysical assays to study protein-ligand and protein-protein interactions and/or in silico modelling for drug design would be highly advantageous.
- Outstanding academic or industrial track records
- Capable of working in a diverse team, but able to plan and work independently
- Exceptional time management, organisational and self-motivational skills

The post is available immediately and is fixed term with **funding currently available until 30 September 2025**. This term may be extendable depending on project progress and funding.

Appointment as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant on the Grade 7 salary scale (**£34,308 - £42,155**) is dependent upon you having been awarded a PhD. An appointment may be considered if you are shortly expected to be awarded a PhD - and the initial appointment in this circumstance would be made as a Research Assistant on the Training Grade 7 salary scale (Spinal Point 25 - 28/£30,502 - £33,314).
