**The role**

**Infrastructure & Platform Technology Team Leader role is to provide technical leadership for BAU & Platform project operations on the USS infrastructure platforms; help implement new technology working with the Infrastructure & Technology Architecture Manager & Technical Solutions Architects and to provide escalation support for all technical teams when required.**

**Taking ownership USS private cloud infrastructure platform technology stack operations including (but not limited to) both public and private cloud environments, DR and Backup services, Patching Compliance and Reporting. The role will be responsible for ensuring the standards and service of 3rd and 4th line support across the USSL Group.**

**The role will be to lead a team of Infrastructure & Platform Technology Engineers through day-to-day activities; ensure priorities are set and the systems remain highly available while taking personal ownership regarding the delivery of technical IT projects as a lead engineer.**

**Leveraging the engineers within the team; the role will ultimately be responsible for ensuring the maintenance; protection and configuration of the USS platform technology stack.***

**Key responsibilities**

**Reporting to the Infrastructure & Technology Architecture Manager, the Infrastructure & Platform Technology Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of the USS infrastructure is on-going and that standards are maintained when new technology is introduced.**

**The Infrastructure & Platform Technology Team Leader is responsible for**:

- ** **Manage both BAU and project workloads of the team, making technical decisions daily**:

- ** **Maintaining & Configuring USS Platform Infrastructure**:

- ** **Maintaining & Configuring USS Backup and DR technologies**:

- ** **Deploying new software into the business**:

- ** **Working to deadlines defined by the USS project teams and Technology Services management team**:

- ** **Platform, Application and Operating System Compliance across the Group**:

- ** **Leading from a technical standpoint during priority incidents**:

- ** **Work closely with the Technology Services Architects to design and deliver new technologies.**:

- ** **Work closely with the Network and Cyber Security team to ensure USS platform and systems under management are secure and configured correctly.**:

- ** **Manage technical escalations to 3rd parties as required.**:

- ** **Ensure the stability and security of live systems ensuring effective operation.**:

- ** **Providing Uptime/Availability reports and Capacity Planning reports when required**:

- ** **Ensuring documentation is maintained to provide technology handovers to the wider technical teams.**:

- ** **Deliver technical change using the USS change control mechanism, ensuring planning and testing is successful and change is predictable.**:

- ** **Regular visits as required to the USS hosted datacentres.**:

- ** **Upholding the standards and professionalism of the team.**:

- ** **Provide mentor and handover experience to support teams.**:

- ** **Transition delivery of solutions into support and BAU following handover from project teams.**:

- ** **Work closely with the wider I.T. teams to provide services where needed.**:

- ** **Engage with key stakeholders across the USS and USSIM business.**

**Technical Leadership**
- ** **Be the escalation point for all Infrastructure & Platform Technology Engineers; making technical decisions to resolve issues and taking ownership of critical faults**:

- ** **Be the escalation point for technical issues, lead in the root cause analysis of problems and own issues in critical situations.**:

- ** **Act as the technical mentor to the Infrastructure & Platform Technology Engineer, enabling them for technical handovers and ownership of technology.**:

- ** **Encourage a positive and professional team ethic through effective communication. Be approachable to your team and help and assist as required.**:

- ** **Provide quality control for the team’s work giving guidance when necessary.**
