Transitional Safeguarding Coordinator

Trowbridge, United Kingdom Wiltshire Council Full time

Summary

**The role is suited to a wide range of backgrounds including Adult and Children’s Social Care, Mental Health, Police, Youth Offending and Substance Misuse Services.**

The Families and Children’s Transformation (FACT) programme brings together partners from a wide range of organisations across Wiltshire into a multi-agency partnership to develop and implement new and integrated ways of working that will enable families and children to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Within the programme, an area of key focus is the support for young people and young adults as they move from adolescence into early adulthood and we are progressing this through a project called ‘Transitional Safeguarding’. Whilst it is acknowledged that there are elements of good practice related to this agenda in Wiltshire, partners have collectively agreed that a refreshed multi-agency approach should be explored. The rationale is that this as an agenda where outcomes could be improved and new ways of working developed that will lead to improved effectiveness and efficiency in the services we deliver and ultimately better outcomes for some of our most vulnerable young people/adults.

Through the FACT Partnership, we’ve been working on this agenda for 15 months and have achieved significant progress as reflected in us being asked to present at numerous national events and to contribute to a forthcoming publication on good practice in the context of Transitional Safeguarding. But we are not yet where we want to be in terms of maximising the potential of the project and, having undertaken a structured review, we are now poised to move into our next phase of activity.

**LIVE **WORK** LEAD**

**About the role**

This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of an evolving area of practice at both local and national level.

The post holder will be responsible for oversight of the activity, maintaining drive and progress and ensuring that the partnership is able to evaluate the project’s effectiveness through both quantitative and qualitative means.

The role will involve driving and shaping change in systems, practice and culture across the entire system and being a champion for the best practice in relation to Transitional Safeguarding.

About you

Above all, you will need to be passionate about this agenda and show insight into the lived experience of young people and young adults who are particularly vulnerable in the transition from adolescence to young adulthood. You will want to ensure their voices are heard and to make a positive difference to their life chances.

You will be an experienced practitioner or manager within the broad area of work and able to evidence a commitment to improving ways of working to achieve the best possible outcomes.

You will be able to demonstrate an ability to think at a whole system level whilst also being able to focus on details and ensure tasks are completed to deadlines.

The postholder will need to be able to work across a wide range of partners and demonstrate an ability to listen and develop understanding of the contexts in which they work.

A key element of this proof of concept activity is to be able to identify what has worked to make a difference and what elements have been less effective; you will need to be able to understand, generate and utilise qualitative and quantitative methods to inform learning and be confident in writing and presenting associated project reports.

**This is a rolling advert, therefore shortlisting and interviews will take place throughout the advertising period. Once the vacancy has been filled, the advert will close.
