**Role title: Defined Benefits (DB) Strategic Developer - Data Engineer**

**Location: London / Reigate / Hybrid / Remote**

**Role Overview**:
This is a new role created to support the transformation of the Defined Benefits (DB) business, and work within the DB Strategic Development team to input into and deliver the Target Operating Model (TOM) which will help the organisation increase efficienciesand allow further growth.

This is a very hands-on role which has the potential to be incredibly broad and would suit someone from a programming (Julia / Python) looking to become a highly IT literate DB Pensions expert.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To support the development of the DB Data Platform
- Implement data flows to connect operational systems, data for analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems.
- Write ETL scripts and code to make sure the ETL process performs optimally.
- Input into the design of data storage solutions that align to the end user requirements.
- Ensure data and appropriate high-level documentation is available, reliable, consistent, accessible, secure within a timely manner for external and internal stakeholders with privacy policy.
- Deliver training to the DB team and design on demand packages of training material to support a high-level understanding of data and the delivered data platform across the DB team.
- Take the lead in transitional arrangements as we move data and processes from the legacy platform into the new platform.

**Key Skills**:

- Wide knowledge of available data technologies and deployment, and significant experience of usage
- Experience user of Julia (preferred) or Python alongside relevant packages and libraries
- Experience of building user interfaces for a large organisation
- An aptitude for systems development and the ability to understand and manage complex concepts.
- Knowledge of DB De-risking or strong desire to work as a strategic programmer in the De-risking area.
- Highly analytical mindset with problem solving attitude.
- Good communication skills, with proven ability to work across functional teams to design technical solutions to business problems
- Experience of running training course/programmes.
- Previous experience of working for a Financial Services organisation, preferably in the Defined Benefit De-Risking area.
