Cockermouth, United Kingdom Save the Children Full time

We're looking for a Shop Manager at our shop in Cockermouth

Do you have what it takes to recruit, support, and lead a volunteer team? Do you have a passion for sustainable/pre-loved clothing?

We want to bring the wonders of charity shops back to our high-street and we need driven and passionate people to get us there

About Us

Save the Children UK believes every child deserves a future. In the UK and around the world, we work every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. When crisis strikes, and children are most vulnerable, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We ensure children's unique needs are met and their voices are heard. We deliver lasting results for millions of children, including those hardest to reach.

About the Role

The role of a Shop Manager is to build, lead & coordinate a large diverse team of highly skilled & motivated individuals that represent our communities. They are central in creating a collaborative environment with the energy to deliver our vision, strategy, and purpose in line with our operational framework, processes & policies, to create positive impact for children.

Cockermouth is a large busy town, with both a vibrant local population and a high number of tourists from the Lake District. Our shop sits in the town centre and benefits from a strong sense of community, with an established and passionate volunteer team. The shop has huge potential with opportunities to increase trading hours and income, so we are looking for someone who can help our Cockermouth shop achieve that potential

With an initial focus on building relationships with the volunteers and on volunteer recruitment, you'll be excited about the prospect of leading and empowering a great team.

About You

You will be someone with exceptional people skills, a leader who understands the importance of community and enjoys supporting people to exercise similar passions through volunteering.

You'll bring your innovative energy to help create a vibrant atmosphere in shop. You'll have a can-do attitude and ability to approach challenges in a positive way, knowing when to reach out for support and guidance where you need it.

Previous retail experience is not essential. If you have transferable leadership skills or experience managing volunteers and are looking for a new challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
