**About the role**:
To work as part of the Strategic Housing team within the Growth service to maximise and progress development opportunities in order to provide a range of good quality housing to meet the housing needs of West Suffolk through developing and maintaining effective internal and external partnerships including with private developers, registered providers and parish councils.

In addition you will lead on the work with Suffolk County Council, West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group and other key partners to identify the need for specialist accommodation, to include sheltered, extra care, supported, key worker, student, Gypsy and Travellers. You will lead on securing of grant funding to facilitate the delivery specialist housing schemes.

You will have extensive experience of working in a housing enabling and development setting, with a proven track record of building and maintaining positive working relationships with partners both internally and externally and other agencies. Experience of rural affordable housing and community led-housing would also be beneficial.

**What you will need**:
You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience. A background in disciplines or study related to geography, construction, economics or other social sciences would be desirable, but not an essential requirement.

- you will have knowledge and experience of the principles of housing development, housing policy and affordable housing.
- you will be a confident communicator and able to analyse data, legislation, policies and drawings in order to negotiate, influence and make written or verbal recommendations to different audiences.
- you will care about the outcomes you deliver for the residents of West Suffolk
