**Job summary**:
About Strategic Projects
- The Strategic Projects team (SPT) sits within the Ministerial Strategy Directorate which brings together strategy, policy and project delivery expertise to support Ministers and ExCo in developing strategy and resolving strategic issues.
- SPT provide project delivery and strategy expertise to deliver solutions to departmental priorities, which can range from evolving policy implementation, to building a strategy for a Ministerial priority, to delivering organisational change.
- Our work varies in both scale and duration, and we employ a range of skill-sets to develop solutions. Projects are typically anywhere between 6 weeks to 6 months, delivered by a small project team.
- SPT works across the whole of the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), making it an excellent place to develop understanding of how DBT operates, build relationships with critical senior stakeholders, and contribute towards enhancing the department.

About the role

**Job description**:
As a Senior Project Officer, you will either lead or support the Strategic Projects Manager to define and deliver projects. You will:

- Plan, prioritise and deliver your work to a high standard, ensuring your work is delivered on time.
- Work with key stakeholders to scope the project, mitigate risk and communicate progress; and work collaboratively with other teams to build the quantitative and qualitative evidence base to break down the problem and deliver a solution. You will use the team’s strategy toolkit to help you do this.
- Devise strategy, analyse issues and evaluate evidence to meet project and Department objectives.
- Deliver recommendations to your customer using strong presentational and influencing skills.
- Effectively handover the outcomes of your projects to other teams, using excellent written and oral communication.

**Desirable Criteria**
- Experience working in a similar strategic projects team in government or in the private sector (e.g. consulting).
- Experience working with key stakeholders across government.
