**BRIEF JOB SUMMARY**
FMP is one of the area’s leading manufacturers of medical devices and healthcare products and has been in operation for almost 50 years. With local sites in operation at White Lund (Morecambe) and White Cross (Lancaster), we manufacture an array of products which supply NHS, UK and global demand for healthcare related products. **Main purpose**
- Leads, set up and controls the sites HSE management program in the following areas: Safety, Working conditions, Environmental protection. Promotes Health, Safety and Environment awareness throughout the business._
**Key Responsibilities**:
- _Plans, organizes and conducts activities within their area in an effective manner towards achieving common objectives of FMP_ _as well as the CliniMed Group._
- _Builds effective KPI’s that support the business needs and take appropriate actions to achieve KPIs._
- _Teamwork - builds relationships with own team and across the organisation, contributes to shaping the atmosphere of cooperation and increasing efficiency in team. _
- _Leadership - Motivates and helps employees achieve common goals by showing credible and honest authority. Leading by example._
- _Advise SLT team on HSE requirements and performance. As part of the leadership team contribute to the strategy and key decisions to ensure the business is taken forward in a safe and compliant manner with respect to Health, Safety & Environment._
- _Ensure HSE control plan is fully implemented._
- _Identify unsafe conditions and environmental risks and recommend action plans._
- _Analyse accidents, incidents and occupational illnesses to set action plans with strategic management team._
- _Evaluate working conditions and site conformity to the legislation. Advise SLT in case of non-conformance in environmental, safety or working conditions. Propose improvement of working conditions._
- _Ensure all required corporate and legal reporting are performed timely and in line with relevant regulations. Analyse the data and recommend actions._
- _Ensure liaison with external bodies (insurance companies, local legal entities)._
- _Follow up HSE action plans implementation._
- _Manage safety audits and create and deliver a ‘Safety first’ observation/surveillance program and ensuring corrective actions are carried out._
- _Support management and buyer in sourcing and validating appropriate personal protective equipment._
- _Check the conformity of each new facility, production environment and of each material and chemical product used on site and participates in the validation of safe plant lay out._
- _Support the business and site developments and new product/process introduction to ensure risk assessments are carried out for Health, safety and Environment._
- _Ensure site follows insurance requirements regarding fire protection and reports progress to SLT._
- _Ensure all equipment relating to safety including alarms is maintained and serviced in line with best practice._
- _Ensure HSE induction procedures are properly organised for site visitors and company employees._
- _Support Managing Director / SLT in meetings and committees dedicated to HSE._
- _Train all new employees on HSE rules and standards (including temporary/agency workers). This to include first aider and fire Marshall._
- _Responsible for appraising the company’s safety training operations and advice on improvements._
- _Liaise with subcontractors/other third parties and engineering/maintenance team to ensure appropriate permits are in place to enable safe working._
- _Responsible for using QMS to develop, manage and maintain appropriate policies, records, training reports, risk assessment, audits, and corrective/preventative actions._
- _Analyse safety and environmental annual requirements and communicate to Managing Director for budget._
**KEY TASKS: OTHER**
- To conduct day to day activities in accordance with the Company’s Safety Policy and to notify your immediate Manager or Supervisor where safety is at risk or where improvements could be made.
- To take responsibility for own personal development, in line with agreed Performance and Development Reviews.
- To perform other such duties within the area of your competence in accordance with the ‘Terms & Conditions of Employment’.
**Preferred Skills and Experience**:
- _Level 3 or above Health & Safety practitioner (e.g., NEBOSH General safety certificate)_
- _Foundation level or above environment qualification_
- _Experience in Pharmaceuticals or Medical devices in HSE management advantageous_
- _Influencing skills_
- _Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within FMP._
- _Flexibility to change priorities in response to changing environment._
- _Self-driven, with an enthusiastic approach and positive attitude._
**WORKING HOURS**
37.5 Hour per week
