As a Research Contracts Specialist, you will be part of a collaborative, supportive and dynamic team, where your work will play a vital role supporting our research teams with a range of agreements relating to their projects and facilitating world-leading research.

We are currently recruiting for 3 positions on a full-time permanent basis.

**About the Role**

As a Research Contracts Specialist, you will be responsible for drafting, co-ordinating, reviewing and negotiating appropriate contractual arrangements supporting the University’s research activities. This will involve working on a variety of agreements (collaborations, research funding arrangements, clinical trials, confidentiality and data and material transfer agreements), with UK and overseas partners including charities, business, government, NHS organisations and other universities.

You will achieve this by working closely with other contracts professionals in the team and with our departments and researchers, to understand the context, and to assess the contractual requirements within your portfolio.

You will be comfortable taking a pragmatic risk-based approach to ensure we are meeting the University’s legal, policy and risk management frameworks, protecting our researcher’s interests, and facilitating research activities.

A full induction and ongoing training will be provided to ensure that you are aware of and comfortable with the University’s policies, processes and expectations as regards research agreements.

To be successful in this varied and interesting role, you will need to be someone who strives for excellence and enjoys providing high quality customer service.

You will have great communication skills, be confident in the ability to communicate with external parties, students and academic staff with courtesy and politeness, and have the ability to work with and interpret complex documentation.

You will also be comfortable when priorities suddenly need to change.

Experience working in the University research sector, and/or a legal background may be of help in the role.
