Oxford, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time

We are seeking to appoint a Researcher to join the Medicine Quality Research Group (MQRG) at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.

The MQRG is a multinational and multi-country team that has led research to understand the available evidence on the performances and the evidence gaps regarding the use of portable screening technologies to contribute to policy and implementation of the WHO Prevent, Detect, Respond strategies.

You will be responsible for providing pharmacy and chemistry inputs required to provide accurate and meaningful information to the end-users of a dashboard that will guide regulators to select the most appropriate device(s) for post-market surveillance of substandard and falsified medicines. You willcurate and analyse the data underlying the dashboard. You will work with the project dashboard engineer to ensure that the dashboard correctly and accessibly informs medicines regulatory authorities and researchers (the two main end-users of the dashboard). You will be responsible for organising a two-day workshop with medicines regulators and screening devices experts from all around the world to gather needs/specifications of the dashboard.

It is essential that you hold a PhD (or close to completion) in pharmacy, chemistry or related field. You will be able to demonstrate an interest in research on substandard and falsified medicines and commitment to improving global health, and possess sufficient knowledge on the main technologies used for testing the quality of medicines. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people at all levels of seniority in the University and with collaborators overseas. It is essential you have experience with database management and data cleaning.

This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 12 months and is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
