The Oxford Internet Institute (OII) is a multidisciplinary research and teaching department of the University of Oxford, dedicated to the social science of the Internet. Applications are invited from highly-qualified individuals for the position of Researcher.

This is a fixed-term variable hours position for 200 hours maximum, starting immediately and continuing to 30 April 2024.

Reporting to Professor Brent Mittelstadt, Professor Sandra Wachter, and Professor Chris Russell, the post holder is a member of the Governance of Emerging Technologies research programme with responsibility for the provision of research and dissemination support for the Trustworthiness Auditing for AI project on aspects of technology policy and governance.

The ‘Trustworthiness auditing in AI’ project involves applied research and the development of tools and tests to evaluate the effectiveness of existing AI accountability tools. The project will involve intensive multi-disciplinary collaboration across philosophy, clinical and social psychology, machine learning, and law. The project will occur within the broader Governance of Emerging Technologies research programme which researches the legal, ethical, and technical challenges of novel technologies and policy.
