Headway Plymouth is a small business in Plymouth, Devon. We are supportive, customer-centric, rewarding, and our goal is to assist people with an acquired brain injury to live indpendent lives for as long as possible.

Main purpose of the job:
As an enabler, your role is to support people to care for themselves through prompting and encouragement, general reminders. As many people with a brain injury struggle with memory problems, your role will be to help them find ways to be able to remember for themselves to perform tasks.

**Requirements**:
You will need to be aware of any significant changes in clients' mental health or behaviour and report this to the Case Manager and be able to discuss with families/carers.

Although you will primarily be employed outside of the centre, you will be required to attend regular team meetings and update the team on the clients, some of whom may attend the day centre as well as receiving enabling support.
On occasion you may be asked to cover for other team members in the day centre if there is an absence and we require some flexibility for this.

This post operates a no-smoking policy when working with clients.

Confidentiality is fundamental in this role. As enabling involves being in a client's home, it is inevitable that you will become privy to matters relating to the client's personal life and we expect you to be able to maintain confidentiality of the clients at all times. Additionally, any discussions with the family regarding the client shall be treated with utmost confidentiality. A client's personal affairs and their life should be treated with the utmost confidence.

You will be required to be aware of, and follow any Health and Safety policies that minimise risk to the client and to yourself.

All activities with clients must be conducted in a professional manner and the Code of Concuct for Healthcare Support Workers adhered to al all times.
