**Key Duties**
- Deliver communications around research, innovation and enterprise one of the university’s strategic areas of focus, providing advice, guidance and support, and overseeing campaigns, events and projects in this area.
- Write content for different audiences to a consistently high standard, volume and to short deadlines, to include internal and external news items.
- Communicate the university’s objectives and developments around research, innovation and enterprise, which will have impact internally and externally. Provide professional advice to develop and implement a communications strategy that delivers the university’s vision for research, innovation and enterprise. The role will also work with other communications colleagues in supporting strategic initiatives such as the University Innovation Institutes and other priority areas.
- Work with the Research Communications Manager to forward plan activity and provide timely reporting on research communication outputs and progress.
- Manage research communications including print, film, online content, and social media and produce relevant analytics. The role would also support communications for research based events aligned to the University’s Research, Innovation and Enterprise priority areas.
- Work alongside the Senior Digital Content Producer (Research) to provide a web presence, and to develop, collate and edit online content.
- Revise and refresh branded materials as appropriate, adhering to university brand guidelines.
- Plan, create and deliver effective digital content that engages audiences and meets key business and user needs, aligned to the strategic direction of the research, innovation and enterprise portfolio alongside the wider university.
- Create a high-quality user experience (encompassing usability, visual elements, content design and quality) web presence, understanding design and usability principles to influence stakeholders.
- Provide professional advice and guidance on digital content processes and procedures to internal and external customers, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood.
- Use web analytics and user research to inform content decisions and make recommendations to stakeholders.
- Plan and deliver specific small-scale projects, co-ordinating and supervising project teams, lead meetings.
- Demonstrate initiative and the ability to make key decisions.
- Publicise research projects and events.
- Manage relationships with external agencies, including commissioning films, publications, photography, and design work.
- Take responsibility for resolving issues independently, where they fall within set role objectives
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key contacts, developing appropriate links across the university and outside bodies as required.

**Qualifications and Education**
1. Degree/NVQ 4 or equivalent professional membership/experience**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
2. Experienced writer, effective in researching, interviewing, and writing clear, accurate, succinct and interesting copy for a variety of audiences and platforms.
- 3. Substantial recent experience of working in content creation/editorial role in digital communications with excellent writing skills and the ability to research, plan and create purposeful websites that are well-structured, visual and adhere to usability and accessibility guidelines.
- 4. Able to demonstrate professional knowledge in digital communications to give advice and guidance to internal and external customers on best practice including usability, user experience and writing for the web.**Customer Service, Communication and Team Working**
