**The Role**

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Administrative Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. As an Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting our Funeral Directors in delivering high quality funeral services. We value a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and the willingness to learn and grow in this rewarding profession.

**Responsibilities**

As an administrative assistant, you will often be the first point of contact for our families in their time of need. Helping provide the support that they need in a professional yet empathetic way. The role includes;
- Speaking to bereaved families both in person and over the phone. Act as first point of contact when anyone visits the office
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure operating procedures are adhered to and maintained on a daily basis.
- Logging and trafficking through paperwork both internally and externally
- Liaising with hospitals, nursing homes and hospices, maintaining strong working relationships
- Ensuring that crematoria, churches and other places of worship have the relevant paperwork they require in a prompt manner
- Providing administrative support to the team of Funeral Directors. Taking and passing on messages relating to their funeral services,
- Preparing and placing funeral notices in newspapers and through online noticeboards
- Carrying out weekly stock checks of the office, and ordering new supplies through our internal system
- Light housekeeping to keep the office in perfect order. This includes keeping work areas tidy and general straightening up. (We do have a professional cleaning service.)
- May serve as liaison between support staff and funeral directors, acting as conduit of information regarding services, client family needs, special requests, meetings and special events, etc.
- Other business-related duties as assigned

**Experience & Skills**
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with grieving families with compassion and empathy.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships within the local community.
- Proficient at operating a computer including the use of Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
- Willingness to develop knowledge & skills through training.
- Full training will be provided, so previous experience in the funeral directing role is not essential.

**Appearance**

All members of staff must be well presented.

As representatives for both the business and our family, all employees are expected to act with sensitivity and professionalism at all times.

**Salaries & Benefits**

Any overtime worked over your contractual hours will be paid at an overtime rate.
