**Vulnerable children in the UK need your help**

Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you'll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.

Last year, we helped more than 670,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.

**Why Action for Children?**

Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It's the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.

**A bit about the role**

Glasgow Health and Social Care Partnership have commissioned services based in Glasgow to work alongside families in a flexible and strengths based way to help them achieve positive outcomes. As part of a city-wide strategy, the service will promote the wellbeing of children and young people aged 12+ years to support them to stay at home and thrive with their families within their local communities by offering the right support at the right time.

Our shared vision is to support children and young people to live with their parents and siblings, or where this is in the best interest of children, with their extended family, enabling them to grow up in their community with their friends, and attend their local school.

**How you'll help to create brighter futures**

Some key responsibilities of the Family Support Practitioner role are;
- **Assessment**: Conduct effective assessments to identify the needs, strengths, and challenges faced by each family.
- **Guidance and Support**: Provide advice, guidance, and parenting support to families. Work one-on-one with children and collaborate with partner agencies.
- **Overcoming Barriers**: Assist families in overcoming barriers by carrying out assessments, offering intensive planned support, and conducting reviews.
- **Advocacy**: Attend meetings and advocate on behalf of children and families while working alongside partner agencies.
- **Collaboration**: Be an integral part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, working collaboratively with families to drive positive change and improve outcomes.

**Let's talk about you**
- SVQ 3 in social care or equivalent.
- Post qualification experience of working with children, young people and families and achieving positive outcomes through direct contribution with support activities and intervention.
- Experience of working with vulnerable families and a broad understanding of their barriers.
- Knowledge and experience of implementing methods of assessment and interventions.
