**Department**:
The joint medical school of the Universities of Hull and York, Hull York Medical School has a reputation as one of the UK's most exciting, contemporary schools. It was established in 2003 - combining York’s strengths in biological science and health sciences and Hull’s Postgraduate Medical School and large clinical base. Since it was established, it has been inspiring doctors and academic leaders of the future with the research, skills and knowledge they need to look at things differently and advance improvements in healthcare around the world.
**Role**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Admissions and Outreach Administrator to join Hull York Medical School, in support of the Admissions, Student Recruitment, Widening Participation and Outreach team. This includes supporting admissions decision making, supporting the planning and delivery of key recruitment, conversion and outreach events, and ensuring the best possible applicant experience through timely, accurate and helpful communications.
The post holder would also support the School’s strategy to recruit from the local communities and widening participation in higher education, particularly the study of medicine.
The successful applicant will be a proactive team player, with outstanding communication skills, excellent attention to detail, a flexible approach and the ability to work independently in a highly demanding environment.
The post holder will be based at the University of York with an expectation of regular work from the Hull campus, and across the Hull York Medical School region supporting events (approximately 15 days per annum).
The role is currently offered as a combination of remote working and in-office working, with an expectation that the post holder will work at least one day per week in the office, and support physical events in person.
This role reports to the Student Recruitment and Admissions Manager.
This role is offered as a maternity cover, for one year in the first instance and is available full time or a minimum of 0.8 FTE.
**Skills, Experience & Qualification needed**:
Applicants should hold a degree level qualification (or equivalent), with experience of working in a varied administrative role, effectively balancing competing priorities.
The successful applicant will also have proven experience of providing an excellent standard of customer service to a range of stakeholders, experience of organising events and meetings and proven experience of data handling.
The successful applicant will also need to demonstrate the ability to work with others outside of the immediate team to ensure that accurate information is passed on promptly to the most appropriate contacts in order to support a good student/applicant service, as well as the ability to represent Hull York Medical School at a wide-range of events, including open days and interview days.
An understanding UK Higher Education systems is desirable, as is a knowledge of admissions procedures and processes.
We would also welcome applicants with an understanding of equal opportunities, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Freedom of Information Act and how these relate to personal information.
A willingness to comply with holiday restrictions and to work occasional weekends and evenings at peak times (to include interviews, open days, offer holder days and the A Level results period) is essential for this role.
**Interview date**: To be confirmed
The University strives to be diverse and inclusive - a place where we can ALL be ourselves.
We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff. #EqualityatYork
