The Acute Clinical Health Psychology Service is seeking Band 7 Clinical Associate in Applied Psychologists to join our team based in either the psycho-oncology service and community weight management service on a part time basis for 11 months. These posts are new and offer an exciting opportunity to develop skills in providing psychological therapy to individuals adjusting to significant physical health challenges.

The post in oncology will involve working within the oncology/palliative care psychology team. The post holder will provide direct clinical care for patients and relatives in both inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition, s/he will work closely with MDT colleagues to support holistic patient care.

The post in community weight management will involve delivering clinical interventions for patients accessing Tier 2 services. The role for the post holder will include working closely with community and acute obesity services. S/he will undertake 1:1 clinical work and some group work for obesity services. There may also be opportunities to contribute to teaching and training of teams within obesity services.

Although previous experience in a physical health setting is an advantage, enthusiasm for working in this setting is more critical. The successful applicant will have at least 2 years post-qualification experience with good credentials in providing therapy within clinical settings. Strong team working skills are essential
