An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced genetic technologist/biomedical scientist to join the Specialist Integrated Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service (SIHMDS) Laboratory within North West London Pathology at Hammersmith Hospital, hosted by Imperial NHS Trust. This laboratory is one of the partner organisations within the North Thames Genomic Laboratory Hub (NTGLH) and is NSHCS accredited to provide STP and HSST training, together with a commitment to train and develop staff of all grades.

This role is primarily based in the molecular section of SIHMDS and demonstrable genomic knowledge and experience for this post is essential. The successful applicant will be required to perform diagnostic and monitoring assays including, RT-qPCR, fragment analysis and next-generation sequencing (NGS). This role demands a high level of organisation and teamwork to manage the operational delivery of the technical workload; therefore, good communication and teamwork skills are essential. The successful applicant will also be responsible for the line management of other members of staff.
- To work with biomedical scientists, associate practitioners, medical lab assistants and clinical scientists in the provision of a comprehensive and effective SIHMDS service for the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, as directed by the Head of the Department.
- To participate in the efficient handling, processing and analysis of samples in the laboratory, under supervision.
- To maintain effective records of all activities and procedures, and to contribute towards the maintenance of the laboratory's quality system.
- To check, keep clean and maintain laboratory equipment.
- To carry out supervised laboratory procedures in all sections of the laboratory, as directed by the Head of the Unit and senior scientific staff.
- To undergo appropriate teaching and training as directed and as necessary in order to maintain HCPC registration and to maintain suitable records of all training activities undertaken.

NWLP Induction

The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
